No on the name. I would be more willing to give my real name out except for the fact that I prefer to remain anonymous about the goings on at the training center. My job gives me a lot of access to the buildings there and don't want to risk it by someone being a jerk about what I do while I'm on duty. Although I'm confident that my boss wouldn't really care, it's other people that would make it a little rough at work. Send me a PM and I can tell you, but not on a public posting.

Well, just a quick update on a couple more personal experiences shared with me by some personnel that recently completed training at MUTC, I can't say who they were, but suffice to say, these guys are HIGHLY trained individuals.
Reports of lights turning on and off rapidly on their own(all lights in the building are flourescent tubes) Sounds of loud footsteps, and disembodied voices Sounds of furniture moving in locked rooms.
I hope to be able to continue my investigations soon as there is currently a short lull in training. Wish me luck!

iHi there. I was just reading your post. I'm an infantry Marine with 1/9 BLT attached to 24th MEU. We recently concluded a three week training op based in Atterbury, but we did a four-day patrol base op at MUTC between 4 OCT and 8 OCT 2009. Both Army helo units and a small SEAL team were also conducting training in this area at the time. My platoon based in building 10 and 11 during this period. It's been converted to a jailhouse but my understanding is that they used to be dormitories. I spent some time in the memorial hospital morgue, nothing ghostly (except something fell against a locked door but we couldn't open it to see what it was) but definitely an oppressive eerie feeling while there. We explored the tunnel systems during the day-time to see what access the roleplayers had to the buildings and I definitely felt watched from a certain opening in the left-side wall facing toward the powerplant. My personal experiences come from the nights of the 5th and 6th. The day of the 4th we barricaded the tunnel door. So heavily in fact it took the roleplayers a solid five minutes of kicking to bring it down the last night we were there. During the day time we used the tunnel between 10 and 11 to post snipers on the roof, but at night we lacked the manpower to occupy both buildings so we would secure the tunnel leading across. The evening of the 5th I was leading two fellow Marines to the doorway to post them in 11. But someone had jumped the gun and barricaded it early. So while going down the steps to the basement as soon as my foot hit the basement floor all the lights went out. Immediately we heard shuffling and moving and clinking of the bars and rafters on the cells and ceiling. So we hauled ass out of there. I confronted my team on what I thought to be a joke; only they hadn't yet located the circuit breakers. No sooner did they say that did ALL the lights go out. It was several hours before they came back on. The next night during an attack, me and my SAW gunner were posted holding security on the stairwell facing the basement door. We relaxed because we both knew that they had to get through the barricade first and we would hear it. We were using PVS-14 NVG monocles with IR floods and Sidewinder IR lights for illumination. About 30 minutes in we began to hear clinking and shuffling, followed by clattering and some very abrupt banging noises. Shortly thereafter we began to hear footsteps and what we both thought were muffled whispers. We didn't speak so as to not give our presence away, but I know he heard it at the same time because we simultaneously took our weapons off safe. We stayed this way for two hours, all the while hearing low voices, footsteps, and movement of pallets and such. When we were to be relieved we called for a fireteam to clear the basement. I led this team down personally. The first thing I noticed is that as I reached the bottom of the steps, ALL of my IR lights quit functioning. The flood on my monocle was still on when I looked around, but when I pointed it downstairs it wouldn't illuminate anything. So I switched instead to the white light on my PEQ-16. We systematically cleared the basement, including all the cells. The barricades were still up. And all the doors double-lock, as you know, from both inside and out. It freaked me out the entire time I was there. So much so, in fact, that I opted to man the outside post at night, 30-degrees thought it was, rather than man the security we posted in the basement from then on. People from the other companies had stories from their stays here as well. This place is definitely hot imo.

That's an awesome experience man, and I definitely remember you guys training here recently, and I hope your training here was top notch. The picture I posted earlier in this thread is actually from the basement of building 11 looking down the tunnel to 10 as I'm sure you can tell from the jail cells. the abrupt banging in the basement I can account for however. the steam pipes in the basement there do make a very loud banging noise, and with the cold temps. the power house had turned the steam on to the buildings for heat. this may account for it but I cant be 100% about it because I wasnt there with you. Thank you for posting about this though devil dog, and thanks for your service.
